The first MOD70 “Race for Water” was launched during a sunny afternoon in presence of more than 100 children of the schools of Lorient, of her skipper Stève Ravussin and of the competitors who already entered the MOD70 circuit, Roland Jordain, Michel Desjoyeaux and Sebastien Josse.
Four school classes from Lorient have been invited to the educational day “Race for Water” which took place at the time of the launch of the first MOD70, the Multi One Attitude Foundation ambassador boat. The program included a visit of the shipyard, a visit of the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly, an educational workshop on water pollutions and the signing of the citizen’s charter written by the children, where they committed to preserve the water from pollution and to prevent the wasting. The 126 pupils also attended the launch of the boat.
Another guest star was present, TITEUF. Indeed, the world-famous cartoonist Zep has agreed to design an educational illustration on ocean preservation and water footprint with Titeuf, the Water Super Hero! The booklet was distributed to all the children.
Anne-Cecile Turner, Director of the Multi One Attitude Foundation, the owner of the first MOD70, explains: “126 children attending, with enthusiastic teachers willing to make more by integrating the educational Race for Water program, it is absolutely brilliant. And the outcome is a real manifesto written by the children themselves. Our ambassador boat launch has been absolutely magic.” She continues: “This first educational day is the first step of an exciting program of events, over the next 3 years. The schools will be following the boat all along the 3 years and will be committing for the long term. »
Franck David, Multi One Design Executive Director, also attended the launch: “This is the result of 3 years of hard work, but it is above all the beginning of a great adventure, bringing together up to 12 MOD70 in the circuit… and the forthcoming announcement of new teams!”
The next very expected event will take place this Friday March 25th on the esplanade opposite the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly, with a great 4D sound and light show, open to the public. The godfathers and godmothers of the boat will be the children. They will be represented by the actress Anne Richard who will christen the boat in presence of the skipper Stève Ravussin. Rendez-vous at 8.30pm!
