America's Cup / Six months on from Bermuda, Ben Ainslie is looking ahead (ITW)

It's a little over six months since Land Rover BAR made it through to the semi-finals of the 35th America's Cup, where they were knocked out by the eventual winners, Emirates Team New Zealand 5-2. The Cup went back to New Zealand, and Land Rover BAR went back to Britain having announced their intent to continue and challenge for the next America's Cup.

Record / Maserati Multi 70 lost a rudder following a collision with a floating object

 “Unfortunately we hit something at 20 knots of speed and   e lost the rudder under the right hullLuckily we have got one spare with us and it seems there are not too much collateral damage,” explains Giovanni Soldini, skipper of Maserati Multi 70. The incident occurred today in the morning, at the beginning of the tenth day of navigation. Maserati Multi 70 is located in the Indian Ocean about 3,000 miles from the Cape of Good Hope. Giovanni Soldini and the trimaran's crew are waiting for better conditions to change the missing piece.

Volvo Ocean Race / AkzoNobel fighting the clock after ‘character building’ leg : "the smallest mistake can snowball"

All seven boats in the Volvo Ocean Race fleet have now finished in Melbourne, with team AkzoNobel ghosting through Port Phillip Bay in near calm conditions to cross the line just before 10:30am on Thursday morning (local time).

Volvo Ocean Race / First in Lisbon, Vestas 11th Hour Racing win Leg 1

Vestas 11th Hour Racing have won Leg 1 of the Volvo Ocean Race, crossing the finish line in the River Tagus in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday afternoon.

It's a tremendous victory for American skipper Charlie Enright and his team, who earn 8 points for their efforts (including a one point 'bonus' for winning the leg).

Volvo Ocean Race / Seven skippers. One goal. “We all want to win” - ITW

The ultimate test in team sport, the Volvo Ocean Race, starts on Sunday, when seven of the best sailing teams in the world cross the starting line off Alicante, Spain.

The Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 will test the crews on a 45,000 nautical mile race course, through some of the most challenging waters in the world, including more miles in the extremes of the Southern Ocean.

ITW / Volvo reconsiders schedule for future Volvo Ocean Races

Following discussions with key stakeholders it has been determined that additional planning time is required to implement the recently announced changes to the race schedule. As a result, the proposed 2019-20 race in new boats will not take place as planned. A revised schedule for future Volvo Ocean Races will be announced as soon as possible. Volvo remains committed to ensuring that any planned changes deliver long-term sustainable benefits to the race and participating teams.

Ultime / A highly charged day for Gitana Team (Images)

Suspended from the crane, the carbon bird packs quite a punch. This emotional moment has been eagerly awaited by all those who have worked on her, not to mention those working in the background, in the big push to take offshore sailing into a whole new era. At 08:30 GMT this Monday, the first oceanic trimaran designed to fly offshore was launched in Vannes, south-west Brittany, under the proud gaze of her owners, Ariane and Benjamin de Rothschild, her designers and builders, and of course the whole of Gitana Team supporting skipper Sébastien Josse.

PETER BURLING AND EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND WIN THE 35th AMERICA'S CUP

Another dominant race win for Peter Burling and Emirates Team New Zealand in race nine of the America’s Cup Match, presented by Louis Vuitton, gave the Kiwi team victory on the Great Sound in Bermuda, sparking wild celebrations on board their America’s Cup Class (ACC) boat, and the team’s support boats on the Great Sound. Burling now adds the 35th America’s Cup to the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup trophy he won in San Francisco, 2013.

Guillaume Verdier is working on plans for the next generation Volvo Ocean Race One Design – and the final decision on monohull vs. multihull is now just weeks away... Verdier and his team of designers will be working alongside a Volvo Ocean Race Advisory Board, featuring race veterans and team directors.

Vendee Globe / Conrad Colman shares his thoughts after an incredible performance

After finishing 16th in the Vendee Globe, crossing the finish line under the jury rig which had carried him the final 720 miles of his race since he was dismasted, Conrad Colman was greeted by a hero's welcome into Les Sables d'Olone. The first New Zealander to complete the race sailing the first boat to use only natural energy, no fossil fuels, Colman shared his thoughts and memories of the race fluently in both French and his native English. Here are the some of the highlights of his pontoon arrival, his public reception and his press conference.

ITW / "My goal was to finish this race", Rich Wilson takes thirteenth place

American skipper Rich Wilson crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe solo round the world race off Les Sables d’Olonne on the west coast of France this afternoon (Tuesday 21/02) at 1250hrs UTC.

From the fleet of 29 boats which started the 27,440 miles singlehanded race from Les Sables d’Olonne on Sunday November 6th, Wilson and Great American IV secure 13th place in an elapsed time of 107 days 00 hrs 48 mins 18 secs. He actually sailed 27,480 miles at ana average speed of 10.70 knots.

ITW / Musandam-Oman Sail capsize, all crew safely ashore in Newfoundland

The Musandam-Oman Sail crew were safely transferred ashore in Newfoundland overnight following the capsize of the MOD70 trimaran on Sunday morning while racing the Transat Quebec-St Malo.

WMRT / "It was the first day of my sailing the M32 in these conditions” explained Martinez

After yesterday’s torrential rain and pea soup fog that restricted visibility on the race course, today Mother Nature smiled upon Newport, Rhode Island. The early morning mist burned off, finally revealing Goat Island and downtown Newport (invisible all of yesterday) and the sun came out allowing a gusty sea breeze to build into the high teens.

AC45 / Oracle capzised during training in Bermuda, "it looks like we had minimal damage" Jimmy Spithill

All crew are safe and the ORACLE TEAM USA AC45S test platform is secure back at base following a capsize during training in Bermuda on Wednesday afternoon.




It was a great day for training, sunny, 15-20 knots of wind,” said skipper Jimmy Spithill. “So it was a great afternoon of sailing until we capsized.
