America's Cup / A 75 foot high performance monohull, The Protocol of the AC36 was released

The Protocol of the 36th America’s Cup was released today at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron after a focused and friendly period of negotiation between the Defender and the Challenger of Record Circolo della Vela Sicilia following Emirates Team New Zealand’s victory in the America’s Cup only three months ago in Bermuda.

#AmericasCup / Luna Rossa announces its withdrawal !

The result of the vote proposed by the Event Authority with the agreement of the Defender of the 35th America’s Cup has overturned, with a majority vote, the America’s Cup Class Rule for the boat with which this edition will be held; this happened notwithstanding the fact that such rule had been previously adopted unanimously by the teams and was in force since June 2014.

Following a careful evaluation of the serious implications of this unprecedented initiative, Team Luna Rossa confirms that it will withdraw from the 35th America’s Cup.

America's Cup / Max Sirena : "This boat is the link between aero and naval technology"

The AC72 “Luna Rossa” wing-sail catamaran, who raced in the final of the Challenger Selection Series of the 34th America’s Cup (San Francisco 2013), was introduced to the media today in her new location at the Aero-Naval Pavillion of the National Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci” of Milan.

#AC35 / Team Luna Rossa resumes training on the water with AC45

Following this past Christmas break team Luna Rossa is back at work full-time at its base in Cagliari in view of the 35th America's Cup to be held in Bermuda in 2017.

#AmericasCup / Bermuda is the home of the 2017 America's Cup, "it’s going to be very challenging !"

The next America’s Cup will be raced in Bermuda in June of 2017. The host venue was confirmed at a press conference in New York on Tuesday by Harvey Schiller, the Commercial Commissioner for the America’s Cup.

AC72 / Luna Rossa has reached the end of its training program in Auckland

Luna Rossa Challenge 2013 has reached the end of its training program in New Zealand. Skipper Max Sirena says the team is in the midst of packing the AC72, wing sail and assorted containers for shipping to San Francisco next Tuesday, March 26.


Now, we are close to the end of our period in New Zealand,” says Sirena in this video produced by the team. “Our time here has been fantastic, one of the best summers in New Zealand in the past 15 years. Wind-wise it’s normally not big breeze in the summer, but we’ve been lucky because we’ve had a lot of days over 18 knots.

AC34 / Chris Draper and Francesco Bruni to lead Luna Rossa

Team Luna Rossa’s preparation and training for the 34th America’s Cup is still ongoing in Auckland, New Zealand and this week the team announced two key roles have been assigned on its AC72 afterguard.


Chris Draper has been chosen as helmsman and Francesco Bruni will be the tactician.

The relationship between Iker Martinez and Luna Rossa was ended by mutual agreement. “We decided together to close our working relationship. The entire Team has enormous respect for Iker, he is a great sailor, which is why he was selected to enter the Luna Rossa Team ” Max Sirena declared.

AC72 / Max Sirena :"Luna Rossa flies very fast: many times we reached 37 knots !"

On January 7, 2012, the first of the two AC 45 Luna Rossa catamarans was launched in Auckland, after rushing against time to put the yacht together and be ready to start training with Emirates Team New Zealand. “It feels like yesterday, but it’s almost one year!” says Max Sirena, skipper of Luna Rossa Challenge, as he gets off the yacht after a training session at sea.
