Wang Jue joins China SailGP Team as recruitment officially kicks off

Recruitment has begun in China SailGP Team’s quest to field a fully Chinese national team, with Wang Jue of Shanghai set to join the team prior to SailGP’s inaugural event in Sydney, just 49 days away.

SailGP concludes successful trials of supercharged F50 boats

SailGP’s F50 catamaran was successfully launched in New Zealand’s Northland region, with all six national teams spending valuable training time on the new class of boat over the past two months. During the sea trials period, the first two F50s were commissioned and the systems were validated, while spending a total of 27 days on the water. In just 50 days, all six F50s will be lined up on Sydney Harbour, ready for SailGP’s inaugural season opener to begin on February 15.

Kojiro Shiraishi fixed to join Vendee Globe 2020 Announced on 30th Oct.2018

On 30th Oct. 2018, The Ocean Explorer "Koojiro Shiraishi" officially announced that his plan has been fixed to join the Vendee Globe 2020-2021. New Sponsor "DMG MORI" President Masahiko Mori and Kojiro Shiraishi announced the New Team "DMG MORI Sailing Team and introduced Managing Director Tony O'Connor and Kojiro's offshore team members.

Four-time world champions Billy Besson, Marie Riou to lead France SailGP Team in new global racing league

Four-time world champion and 2016 Olympian Billy Besson was today announced as the helmsman for the France SailGP Team. Part of a new global racing league setting sail in February 2019, the French team also features Marie Riou, SailGP’s first female onboard crew member. The full team was revealed on Marseille Harbor, which will host the final event of the inaugural season (September 20-22, 2019).

Golden Globe Race / Loïc Lepage dismasted 600 miles SW of Perth, Australia

At 18:30 UTC, Loic Lepage French solo yachtsman set off the Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) on his yacht Laaland after being dismasted earlier in the day some 600 miles SW of Perth Western Australia.

INEOS TEAM UK the Challenger for the 36th America's Cup released the first official images of their test boat

On the day that the America's Cup race course and event dates were announced in Cowes, Isle of Wight, where the Cup began back in 1851, INEOS TEAM UK the British Challenger for the 36th America's Cup also released the first official images of their test boat, known as T5, a small scale foiling mono-hull.

Alex Thomson Racing appoints world renowned British Boat Builder, boat launch targeted for June 2019

British sailing team, Alex Thomson Racing, has announced that it will build a brand new IMOCA 60 race boat in the south of England.

The boat, HUGO BOSS, will be constructed by Carrington Boats. Jason Carrington is one of the most accomplished and highly regarded specialists in the industry.

Dongfeng Race Team win the Volvo Ocean Race with late pass on final day

Dongfeng Race Team has won the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 in the closest finish in race history.

Skipper Charles Caudrelier led his team to victory on the final leg of the race, a 970-mile sprint from Gothenburg, Sweden to The Hague.

“We are waiting to catch the new wind,” said Pascal Bidegorry, Dongfeng Race Team - Volvo Ocean Race

A brief split opened up in the Volvo Ocean Race fleet on Saturday afternoon as team AkzoNobel and Team Brunel were pushed by an unexpected windshift to pass north and west of a commercial Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) while the race leaders, Dongfeng Race Team and MAPFRE slid down the east side.

Skipper Bouwe Bekking led his team to a win in Leg 10 of the Volvo Ocean Race over Xabi Fernández's MAPFRE squad, who claimed second place, less than two-minutes behind.

Volvo Ocean Race / MAPFRE leads fleet north of Scotland

Spanish team MAPFRE shot into the lead of the penultimate Volvo Ocean Race leg as the fleet rocketed round the coast of Scotland on Wednesday.

The painfully light and fickle winds that dogged the seven teams on Tuesday as they crossed a high pressure ridge had today been replaced by powerful south-westerlies that were blasting them north-east at breakneck speeds.
