Farr 30 / Sailing Arabia – The Tour, an exciting in port sailing race

As Qatar gears up to celebrate Qatar National Sports day on 12th February, EFG Bank Sailing Arabia – The Tour, has announced an exciting in port sailing race at The Pearl Marina involving a host of world-class crews and sailing elite from across the Middle East.

The region’s only long distance offshore sailing race has been perfectly scheduled to let all communities in Qatar and sailing enthusiasts celebrate the sporting public holiday on Tuesday 12th February. Free to attend and open to all, the family day let’s all spectators watch the magnificent fleet of Farr30 boats in action as they battle it out in Qatari waters to secure top points in the in-port racing series following the first leg of sailing between Bahrain and Qatar.

Initiated and supported by the Qatar Olympic Committee, National Sports Day includes a host of sporting events from gymnastics and athletics to football and karate, and is designed to inspire a new generation of active sports fans, unite the community and discover local talent.

Al-Sewaidi, President, Qatar Sailing & Rowing Federation said; “Qatar National Sport Day is all about giving the community the opportunity to explore new challenges and encourage an active lifestyle. Over the past few years we have experienced a surge in sailing interest within the local community.

EFG Bank Sailing Arabia – The Tour is becoming renowned as showpiece event and family day out alongside Qatar National Sports Day that is capturing the interest of the local people and encourage them to rediscover one of the oldest sports in the region and the world. Sailing talent is definitely growing and with more challenging events that unite the region and come to the shores of Qatar we hope to inspire future sailing heroes, added Al-Sewaidi.”

EFG Bank Sailing Arabia – The Tour will arrive at The Pearl during the early hours of the morning on February 11th with the exciting in port sailing starting at 11am the following day. The team’s decision making skills and quick reactions will be put to the test as they battle it out in close proximity in full view of those celebrating Qatar National Sports Day.

Leaving Manama on February 10th, EFG Bank Sailing Arabia – The Tour calls at Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Dibba and Mussanah and ends February 25th in Muscat. The racing will include in-port racing at selected locations.
