Volvo Ocean Race / Team Alvimedica First to Cape Horn, “It’s the Everest of the race" Enright

Team Alvimedica, the youngest crew in the Volvo Ocean Race, rounded the iconic Cape Horn first yesterday just after 1400 UTC and only 15 minutes ahead of Abu Dhabi Racing, in a hotly contested battle at the front of the fleet.

Volvo Ocean Race / Dongfeng mast breakage : What happened and what happens next ?

The mast remains quite unstable on Dongfeng as Damian Foxall explains: “We really cannot do much more to stabilize the situation right now. At some stage I think we are going to have to go up there and cut some stuff off.”





Volvo Ocean Race / Dongfeng Race Team breaks mast, crew safe

Dongfeng Race Team broke its mast early on Monday (GMT, March 30) but fortunately nobody has been injured and there is no immediate danger to the crew.


The incident happened 240 nautical miles west of Cape Horn at 0315 UTC on Monday, in the final hours of the night onboard Dongfeng.

Volvo Ocean Race / Toughest leg for Volvo Ocean Race is underway

Volvo Ocean Race’s six-strong fleet finally headed out of Auckland on Wednesday morning after the Leg 5 departure was delayed 67 hours to avoid the worst of Cyclone Pam.
