After beginning its 5-year Odyssey on April 9, the vessel, Race for Water, arrived in Madeira on Thursday, April 20 for a short three-day stopover before heading to Bermuda. This first stopover will allow the crew to make a preliminary assessment of the energy mix and review the first tests with the kite on this ambassador vessel of the Race for Water Foundation.

After a spectacular route through the Panama Canal, the Race for Water Odyssey (R4WO) entered into the Pacific Ocean, and arrived this weekend in Valparaiso. The R4WO will stay in the Chilean city until 18th May, before beginning the second phase of scientific analyses in the South Pacific Ocean waste vortex.

The Atlantic crossing is certainly no easy ride for the R4WO crew! With winds exceeding 25 knots, the trimaran is navigating at high speed, still upwind, and reaches a speed of 20 knots…the crew is getting shaken!
Having left Bordeaux (France) on March 15, the "Race for Water Odyssey" scientific sailing expedition, which aims to protect the oceans from plastic pollution, arrived in the Azores on Friday. The expedition's first scientific data will be collected in this archipelago.
