Volvo Ocean Race / Sixty days to go


There are now just two months to go before the start of the race on October 29 in Alicante, Spain. With the clock ticking down, here's our latest team by team round-up of the state of preparations.

October 29 will mark the start of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 with the first of the 10 In-Port races. That will be followed by the Pro-Am (Oct. 30), the Legends Regatta (November 2-3) and the start of the first leg to Cape Town on November 5.

Here's where the teams are at:
- Team Telefónica have just arrived in Galician waters in the north of Spain for the latest stage of their training. They have presentations planned today for Vigo and Sanxenxo, where they will make their home until they leave for Alicante. Check back later for more news on Telefónica.
- CAMPER with Emirates Team New Zealand are in England after their month-long break. After London they will sail to Lorient in France and on to Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona in Spain.
- PUMA Ocean Racing powered by BERG Propulsion are on a 10-day break from their intense training programme in Lanzarote.
- Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing are at their base in Cascais, Portugal.
- Team Sanya are in Hamble and have just announced their 10th crewmember in Teng Jiang He, nicknamed Tiger, the first Chinese sailor to compete in the Volvo Ocean Race.
- Groupama sailing team are at home in their French base of Lorient.
