Skipper Vasilij Zbogar says conditions were brisk - averaging near 20 knots - when many of the crew went up to the bow to work on the gennaker. That's when a strong gust approaching 30 knots struck and the boat went over.
"Today was quite gusty. We went out for the first time since Cascais, and in these conditions, with these boats, you have to be 100% all the time. A few things went wrong and we capsized," Zbogar said.
"It's part of the game of course, but it would have been better if it was at the end of the day, not the beginning of training. But it was a good experience, we got the boat up quite quickly, and we'll try not to make the same mistake when we are racing."
In a sense, the team picked a good day to do it. The forecast for Tuesday is for very strong winds - most teams are expecting to stay ashore - so Green Comm may not lose a sailing day if they can repair the wing by Wednesday.
