ACWS / America's Cup cargo en route to Naples

The first America's Cup cargo will arrive in Naples, Italy on Thursday, just over one month ahead of the first day of the America's Cup World Series.

The MV Palabora is due in Naples overnight Wednesday night, having departed Valencia, Spain earlier this week with a cargo that includes 65 shipping containers, three AC45 catamarans, TV and race organisation boats as well as team chase boats and Race Committee boat Regardless. The cargo will be unloaded on Thursday into a secure storage facility in the Port. The remaining AC45 catamarans will be shipped into Naples over the coming weeks.

In the meantime, work is continuing at full pace on the extension of the breakwater which is due to be completed in mid-March. This will protect the AC45s when they are being lifted in and out of the water.

The full build out of the site will begin on March 24th, which is when all of the shipping containers will be trucked from the Port to the Race Village site, and the logistics team will start building the team bases, race organisation structures, hospitality facilities, and technical areas.

The first day of racing in the America's Cup World Series Naples is April 7th.
