AC72 / Grant Dalton (ETNZ) :"We’ll find out whether we got it right or not in September "

Emirates Team New Zealand has had its second AC72 delivered to its team base in Auckland.

“It’s really exciting,” said Kevin Shoebridge, the Chief Operations Officer for the team. “It’s quite a big day, taking delivery of the second AC72. We’re on time, it’s going well and we’re really looking forward to getting it out on the water in the next few weeks.”

The major components of the platform were built at Cookson’s Boatyard taking nearly 40,000 man-hours of work to complete.

“I’m very happy to see it here,” said ETNZ technical director Nick Holroyd. “The hopes of the campaign are grounded in this one. With any luck she works well and we never have to pull boat one of the cupboard again.”

“This is it,” agreed Grant Dalton, head of the team. “We’ll make it faster, but it ain’t going to change shape!

“We’ll find out whether we got it right or not in September this year.

The team is targeting a first sail in early February.
