After a six-day road trip from northern Italy to southern England, the first One Design hull arrived at Green Marine.

The 65-foot carbon piece built by Persico was taken off the trailer, uncovered and fitted into its assembly jig. All the systems and complementary internal structure can now be installed.

The second most important component of this giant puzzle, the deck built in France by Multiplast, is due to take the ferry tonight. Once inside the English shed – probably tomorrow – the assembly of the first One Design Volvo Ocean 65 will start.

Everybody at Green Marine was delighted to have a boat to finally play with,” says Volvo Ocean Race’s Rick Deppe, who followed the convoy all the way from Bergamo, Italy, to Hythe in the UK.

“The boat looks awesome and everyone around here is talking about it. It's very exciting."
