AC34 / Oracle Team USA is set to relaunch their AC72 Monday

With repairs and modifications nearing completion, ORACLE TEAM USA is set to relaunch their AC72 racing yacht on Monday morning, February 4, from the team base in San Francisco. It will mark the first time the boat will be on the water since capsizing on Oct. 16, 2012.

INFO:
ORACLE TEAM USA rolled the AC72 and wing out of the shed and completed the final phase of preparation on Saturday to set the stage for relaunch. The boat was put through a series of load tests to ensure it is ready to sail again.

As a result of the capsize of ORACLE TEAM USA ‘17’ in October, the wing sail and hulls of the first AC72 were damaged. Repair work began immediately, and the second wing built at Core Builders Composites in New Zealand arrived on January 8. The repair and reassembly work was completed on schedule. This is the first of two AC72s built by ORACLE TEAM USA, with the second to be ready to launch in the spring.
